MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET

This site is for friends, family and fellow sonic pioneers. Our mission is to show you music past and present that has interested and/or tickled us. We realize some of these songs have been out for awhile, but we don't care. Hopefully you hear something you like.

  • E-Tards,

This song is called “Ecstacy” and it’s by the swedish duo jj and it’s off their fantastic debut “jj n° 2”. You’ll immediately recognize this song as it samples and play around with the super popular Lil’ Wayne ballad “Lollipop”. However, this version is much more sweeping and sounds like the first steps into a mysterious space-forrest galaxies far-far away. You hear squeaks, pops and other natural sounds which ooze in and throughout the song, and then there’s this weird 90s synth thing going on too…somehow it all works well together.

    “When I’m in the club/I’m always on a drug/If you get a hug/Guess what drug/I’m on ecstasy”

So you can guess what this song is about.

Anyways, here are some other songs you should check out by jj:

Are You Still in Vallda? is my favorite song by jj. It’s a beautiful pop ballad about falling out of touch with someone you meant to keep in your life. You don’t think about them all the time, but when the air gets hot and the suns out, and you start thinking about spring or summer, you can’t help but remember a time which you’ve allowed to drift further and further away. Full of melancholy, simple chords, sweeping strings and sweetly sung lead vocals. I highly recommend checking this song out.

“Somehow I know we’ll meet again/but I say that every summer/and every summer is a summer I’m floating away from you”

Things will never be the same sounds somewhere between a song about the Serengeti written by a solo Paul Simon, an Enya song, and some weird song you’d hear as part of an advertisement for some odd 90s box set in the wee hours of the morning. Despite all these things, for some reason, it’s great and incredibly catchy. Seriously, some how.
