MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET

This site is for friends, family and fellow sonic pioneers. Our mission is to show you music past and present that has interested and/or tickled us. We realize some of these songs have been out for awhile, but we don't care. Hopefully you hear something you like.

  • Since we’re doing Dylan I’ll drop my favorite song of his on you.

This song’s called “Mama You’ve Been On My Mind” and it features Joan Baez.

Not much to say other than that it is the best song ever written about somebody that you have closure with but still think about time and again. It also features my favorite “fuck you” verse ever.

“Even though my mind is hazy an’ my thoughts they might be narrow,
Where you been don’t bother me nor bring me down in sorrow.
It don’t even matter to me where you’re wakin’ up tomorrow,
Mama, you’re just on my mind.”

There is also  a dope cover of this by Jeff Buckly that you should check out.

(I’ll be posting on him soon because he’s the bomb)

    * Couldn’t agree enough with Tim about Bob Dylan’s influence. Shit, lyrics as art, not having to be a fantastic singer to sing, the concept of the “singer-songwriter”…nobody touches this guy’s influence.
